The Fire Spawn is a large, silicon-based predator found on the planet Alinos in Metroid Prime Hunters. It lives in lava pools, and tosses lava to repel intruders and capture prey. It is invulnerable to heat-based weaponry and resistant to most others, but cannot withstand cold temperatures. Samus Aran encounters only one Fire Spawn during her visit to Alinos, in the basement level of the Council Chamber. Here, she discovers that the Fire Spawn is most vulnerable in the mouth area, and is damaged the most by the Judicator. Samus must defeat it to obtain the Magmaul. It is similar to the cold-acclimated Arctic Spawn.

Trivia

• The Arctic Spawn and Fire Spawn have almost the exact same physical build. This may suggest that their race is capable of adapting to different environments, or it may be a very unlikely case of convergent evolution.
• The Fire Spawn and Diamonts are the only known silicon-based species in the Metroid universe.
• The lower parts of the Council Chamber have been structurally damaged; perhaps this damage was caused by a past conflict between the local Fire Spawn and another bioform.
• The Fire Spawn (and Arctic Spawn) are programmed to turn towards Samus as part of their AI. However, due to a bug, they do not correctly handle situations where Samus is above or below the creature. As a result, the Fire Spawn appears to become horizontally squashed if Samus jumps over it and looks down.^[1]
• The theme of this and its "cousin", the Arctic Spawn, is a remix of the Parasite Queen theme from the original Metroid Prime.
