Lab Access is one of the rooms that Samus Aran attempt to travel through aboard the G.F.S. Olympus while returning to her Gunship during Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

Description

Two Federation Marines are stationed here, fighting two Pirate Militia, when an out-of-control Stiletto-Class Fighter rams into the starship, compromising the hull and venting one of the Marines into space. The second Marine hangs onto a corridor support for his life, leaving it up to Samus to aim at a switch to seal off the hull breach with blast doors. If Samus is not quick enough or approaches the rupture herself, the Marine will fly into space, hitting the switch himself and sealing the breach. If Samus shoots the switch in time, the Marine will be rescued. The corridor will be sealed off because of the breach in both scenarios, so Samus cannot open the door at the other end and has to locate an alternate route. Samus is then forced to return the way she came to the Xenoresearch Lab.

Development notes

The room's internal name is h07_gfship_fightercrash, referencing the Stiletto-Class Fighter that rams into the starship here. The keyword gfship indicates the G.F.S. Olympus, and the prefix h07 indicates that this is the seventh of 18 junction rooms on the G.F.S. Olympus.

In a demo of Corruption released by IGN, the Federation Marine Samus can rescue is absent, and the blast door shuts automatically after the first Marine is sucked out into space.[1]
